Terrazas De Los Andes 2024 Reserva Malbec

$ 2199 $ 2499

Tasting Notes

The Terrazas de los Andes 2024 Reserva Malbec is an elegant, high-altitude red wine crafted from 100% Malbec grapes sourced from over 100 organically certified parcels across the Uco Valley and Luján de Cuyo in Mendoza, Argentina. On the nose, this cool-climate expression reveals a brilliant aromatic intensity brimming with ripe dark fruits like blackberry, black cherry, and plum, intertwined with fresh strawberry accents, mountain spices, and the grape's signature floral whisper of violet. The palate is medium-to-full-bodied, fluid, and vibrant, balancing its rich dark fruit profile with soft-grained, silky tannins and a lively acidity born from vineyards sitting up to 5,400 feet above sea level. Subtle aging for 14 months in used French oak and concrete tanks lends delicate backnotes of vanilla, cocoa, and liquorice, which stretch out into a beautifully fresh and long, taut finish.

This versatile mountain Malbec is an exceptional match for savory, protein-rich dishes, particularly grilled or roasted red meats such as a classic Argentine asado, ribeye steak, or herb-marinated lamb skewers. Its bright acidity and well-integrated tannins also cut effortlessly through the richness of smoky beef empanadas or tomato-based pastas with savory Italian sausage. For vegetarian options, the wine's subtle mountain spice and earthy undertones pair beautifully with charred bell peppers and wild mushroom risotto. Finally, it handles a cheese board with ease when served alongside firm, aged cheeses like Manchego, Gouda, or provolone.

For the 2024 vintage, prominent critic James Suckling celebrated the wine's vibrant, expressive fruit character. He lauded its aromatic notes of elderberries, violets, blueberries, licorice, and black cherries, highlighting its "medium-bodied and very fresh" frame, "nicely fluid palate," and a beautifully "well-balanced, juicy and soft-grained" finish.
