Tasting Notes

The 2023 Maison Noir "Other People's Pinot" (O.P.P.) Pinot Noir is a distinct, highly accessible expression of the Pinot Noir varietal crafted by sommelier André Hueston Mack. Sourced from multiple prominent vineyard sites across Oregon’s renowned Willamette Valley AVA, this light, perfumed red wine showcases a balance of freshness, purity, and vibrant acidity. The winemaking process incorporates a seven-day cold soak followed by ten months of aging in French oak (30% new) to achieve its multilayered depth.

On the nose and palate, this classic Oregon Pinot Noir bursts with bright red fruit flavors of cherry, raspberry, and cranberry. These primary fruit characteristics are beautifully framed by savory and aromatic undertones, including earthy forest floor, gingery wood spice, clove, and a delicate hint of floral perfume. The wine offers a silky texture with fine tannins, resulting in a smooth, lively, and balanced finish.

The light body and bright acidity of this varietal make it incredibly versatile at the dinner table. It pairs exceptionally well with rich, fatty fish like grilled salmon, as well as roasted poultry options such as roast chicken, duck, or turkey. Additionally, its pronounced earthy undertones make it an ideal match for mushroom risotto, mushroom-centric dishes, and a variety of lighter cheeses.
