Field Recordings 2024 "Fiction" Red Blend
Tasting Notes
Field Recordings’ 2024 Fiction Red Blend from Paso Robles is a richly layered wine that pours a deep, dark color and opens with expressive aromas of blackberry, blueberry pie, Rainier cherry, and hints of white pepper, suede, and tobacco. On the palate, it delivers flavors of plum, raspberry, cherry cola, grilled meats, black licorice, and subtle leather and granite tones, finishing with refreshing brightness and firm but approachable tannins.
The blend is composed of a wide-ranging mix of varietals, including Cinsaut, Lagrein, Cabernet Franc, Charbono, Cabernet Sauvignon, Sangiovese, Alicante Bouschet, Zinfandel, Grenache, and Trousseau, with slight variations depending on the retailer’s reporting. These grapes come from several Paso Robles vineyards, many farmed organically or sustainably, and the wine is fermented with native yeast and aged in French and American oak for about ten months.
This wine pairs naturally with bold, savory dishes thanks to its dark fruit core and spice-driven structure. Ideal matches include red meats, charcuterie, grilled dishes, baked potatoes, Friday‑night pizza, and hearty bean or vegetable chilis, all of which complement its fruit intensity and earthy undertones.
