Champagne Jeeper Premier Cru Grand Assemblage Brut

$ 4999 $ 6999

Established in 1949 and named as a tribute to the Willys Jeep used by founder Armand Goutorbe to navigate his steep vineyards after World War II (given to him by the Americans to help make up for losing his leg in assisting them), the house has carved out a reputation for excellence by focusing on significant oak integration. Unlike many of its peers, Jeeper maintains one of the largest collections of oak barrels in the region, using them to age a substantial portion of their Chardonnay for two years. This distinctive approach, combined with extended bottle aging on the lees for at least four years, results in a powerful and gourmand Champagne that prioritizes texture and complexity over simple acidity.

The Premier Cru Brut Grand Assemblage is a masterfully balanced cuvée, composed of 60% Chardonnay, 25% Pinot Noir, and 15% Pinot Meunier sourced from 37 different premier cru parcels. On the nose, the wine is expressive and deeply aromatic, offering layers of toasted brioche, lemon custard, and ripe stone fruits like white peach and pear. Because of the extensive barrel work and time spent on the lees, the palate is remarkably creamy and expansive, featuring a silky mousse and a fine, persistent effervescence. You will find a concentrated core of Fuji apple and citrus caviar, accented by sophisticated notes of roasted almond and a faint, savory minerality on the finish. This is a generous and authentic Champagne that is technically precise, making it as suitable for a multi-course meal as it is for a celebratory aperitif.
