Amity Vineyards 2024 White Pinot Noir
Tasting Notes
The Amity Vineyards 2024 White Pinot Noir is a distinctive still white wine crafted entirely from 100% estate-farmed red Pinot Noir grapes in Oregon’s acclaimed Willamette Valley. This unique style is achieved through immediate whole-cluster, free-run pressing, which minimizes contact with the dark grape skins to yield a wine with a rich, golden hue rather than a red or rosé tint. The fruit is sourced primarily from the Crowe Hill Vineyard in the windy Van Duzer Corridor AVA (72%) and the high-elevation Bald Peak Vineyard in the Chehalem Mountains AVA (28%). To isolate its aromatic complexity, the juice is cold-fermented slowly in stainless steel and subsequently aged on fine lees (sur lie) until its bottling in early 2025, resulting in a texturally complex white wine with a balanced 12.0% ABV.
On the nose, this vintage opens with an elegant bouquet of pear, orange blossom, fresh linen, crushed wet stone, and raw almond. The palate delivers a medium-to-full-bodied mouthfeel that balances a pleasant phenolic grip with bright, refreshing acidity. It leads with vivid expressions of lemon tea, peach, juicy golden raspberry, and honeydew melon, finishing with excellent fruit density and mineral tension.
Because it bridges the gap between the crisp acidity of a traditional white wine and the structural weight of a red grape, it is exceptionally versatile at the dinner table. It pairs beautifully with roasted poultry like chicken and turkey, as well as delicate seafood dishes including seared scallops, Dungeness crab, and baked white fish. The wine's vibrant acidity and round texture also make it an excellent counterpoint to creamy cheeses, mushroom risottos, and lightly spiced pork tenderloin.
