Bernard Gaucher Brut Reserve Champagne

$ 4499

Winemaker Notes

Quite elegant with richness and structure on the palate. Fresh and baked apples, poached pears, baked bread, a touch of lemon curd and very fine bubbles. Very versatile with seafood, caviar, fried chicken or on its own.

The vineyards of Bernard Gaucher are located in Aube near the town Aronville, in the hilly heart of the Cote des Bar in the southern part of the Champagne wine region. Vineyards are close to the city of Epernay. Both Pinor Noir and Chardonnay grapes are grown on the estate. Gaucher is a true estate grower champagne, growing grapes and making champagne for several generations.

This particular wine is the classic of the house, known for its fresh and fruity character. It is 90% Pinot Noir and 10% Chardonnay - the cuvee is made from wines made with the 2010 and 2011 harvests. The resulting wine is kept 2 years on its lees, then matured in oak casks with weekly batonnage (lees stirring) and partial malolactic conversion. After disgorgement, the wine rests a further 6 months before release.  Dosage is 10 grams per liter.
