Oak Ridge Winery "Blazon" Merlot

Oak Ridge Winery is a family-owned estate located in Lodi, California, with a rich legacy that spans six generations of grape growing and winemaking. The story began in 1906 when Angelo Maggio immigrated from Genoa, Italy, and planted his first vineyard cuttings in 1928. Originally built in 1934 as a winemaking cooperative, the facility was transformed in 2002 by Rudy Maggio into a modern production powerhouse. Today, the winery is run by Rudy’s three daughters—Raquel Casity, Lisa Kammerer, and Shelly Maggio Woltkamp—who continue the family’s tradition of sustainable farming and quality winemaking across their 2,500 acres in the Lodi AVA.
One of their standout offerings is the Blazon Merlot, a bold and fruit-forward wine that showcases the richness of Lodi’s terroir.  Composed of 90% Merlot, 6% Petite Sirah, and 4% Petit Verdot, aged for 10 months in a mix of 63% French and 37% American oak. It opens with aromas of rich black fruit, chocolate, and baking spice, and delivers concentrated flavors of dried cherry and raspberry on the palate. The mouthfeel is plush and velvety, with round tannins and a balanced structure. The Blazon label itself is designed to highlight the interplay between bold Lodi fruit and oak aging, resulting in wines that are aromatic, approachable, and expressive.
