Holiday Season 2024 Mixed Case Sampler

The holiday season is here and we've got a fantastic deal for you.  The latest edition of our Mixed Case Sampler features the fresh vintages of some of our best selling wines as well as some new arrivals sure to be among your new favorite wines.

Tutela Prosecco (Italy) - A party or celebration isn't complete without pop of a sparkling wine bottle.  Tutela is one of our favorite "crowd pleaser" bubblies, Tutela Prosecco has a brilliant yellow straw color with persistent bubbles. It's nose is fruity with a focus on the orange zest aroma. In the mouth it is creamy with a variety of citrus notes. It is a well made and easy to drink Prosecco with dry fruity aftertaste. 

Walnut Block Sauvignon Blanc (Marlborough, New Zealand) - For a number of years in the Walnut Block was our #1 selling white wine, not just the best selling Sauvignon Blanc. For those of you who have been asking, the good news is that Walnut Block is finally back and as fantastic as ever.  The big boys in NZ that you find at the grocery store produce hundreds of thousands of cases of Sauvigon Blanc each year, but this small, family owned winery only makes around 5000 cases of wine each vintage. The grapes are sourced from the Sowman family's organic and sustainably farmed vineyard surrounding and ancient walnut tree, the inspiration for the winery's name.  Textbook notes of zesty pink grapefruit and gooseberry complimented by a hints of fresh herbs and nettles, passionfruit and backed by vibrant acidity.

Claus Preisinger "Fruit Loops" White (Austria) - Fruit Loops is a new wine series for Claus, named after the diversity of aromas found in the wine. This wine is unlike any other we've tried, thanks to a blend of Scheurebe, Riesling, and Furmint that has been semi-carbonically macerated. With citrus, honey, and a great herbaceousness, this one also has a touch of wildness.

Sanctuary Vineyards "Wildflowers" Rose (NC) - This full-bodied Rosé made with Outer Banks grown Tannat will please your palate with its balanced acidity and luscious flavors of cherry, raspberry and rhubarb.

Delta Cabernet Sauvignon (California) - Delta is the new 2nd label from the husband and wife team that founded Brick & Mortar wines.  Matt is a UC Davis oenology grad and his wife Alexis is a certified advanced sommmelier and their passion for producing great wines with minimal environmental impact is second to none. The nose if full of blackberries and black currents holding court over aromatics of vanilla, eucalyptus, dark spices and leather. Drinks like a $30+ Napa Cab.

Dusted Valley "Boomtown" Merlot (Washington) - This delicious Washington Sate Merlot offers aromas of cherry hand pie, peppered pastrami, blueberry compote, and magnolia blossom with a chewy, crisp, dry medium-to-full body and a peppery, refreshing, medium-length leather, carob, black licorice, and firm plum finish with chewy tannins.

Brickmason Red (Lodi, CA) - Klinker Brick has long been one of our favorite producers of Zinfandel and Zinfandel based blends.  Sourced from the winery's 85+ year old vineyards, the newest vintage of their Brickmason Red has just arrived and is another winner.  This red blend is known for its deep purple color and rich, fruit-forward profile. This blend is comprised of 80% Zinfandel, 10% Syrah, 5% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Petite Sirah. On the nose, aromas of blueberry and toasty vanilla lead into notes of dark fruit with soft tannins on the palate. The tannins are well-structured, leading to a smooth and enduring finish.

Comtadine Cotes du Rhone Rouge (France) - This value-priced Cotes du Rhone is a blend of 80% Grenache and 20% Syrah made by a high quality cooperative in the Southern Rhone. Plump, juicy, and rounded in style, this one shows ripe notes of plum, dark cherry, blackberry, and a hint of pepper and herb.

La Storia by Trentadue Petite Sirah (Sonoma, CA) - The new vintage of La Storia's fantastic Petite Sirah is finally here (with a fresh, new label, too) and it absolutely fantastic.  Imposing with dark, opaque color, beautiful nose of concentrated blue berries and blackberries that leads to a full body mouth feel with engagingly soft (for Petite Sirah) tannins. After short aeration, the nose opens with the addition of cocoa, violets, slight earthiness, and graphite followed by brown sugar and a touch of vanilla-contribution of the new oak barrels. 

Violet Hill Pinot Noir (Santa Barbara, CA) - Supple, velvety, and laden with luscious crimson flavors of berries and cherries that evolve with resinous spice, smoky cedar, and herbaceousness on the palate. The bolder Santa Barbara component lends weight and ripe fruit, while the Santa Maria parcels offer savory and fresh herbal tea high tones.

Side by Side Rioja Reserva (Spain) - Out of stock for months, this is another wine that we're really excited to have back in stock.  Dark, saturated ruby-black center, with deep, staining tears in the glass. The nose opens to blackcurrants, black raspberry, licorice, clove, dusty rocks, and Madagascar vanilla. The palate is where this wine begins to unveil its potential: It’s rich and polished, with plenty of sappy resinous oak tones that give way to rosemary, a touch of pine needle and cedar bark.

Pinord "Chateldon" Cabernet Sauvignon (Spain) - The last vintage of Chateldon had beautiful Rioja-like cedar and tobacco notes,  but while still pretty and elegant in style the 2019 is a lot more bold and powerful.  Captivating with its aromatic intensity, featuring prominent raisin and red fruit jam nuances, beautifully enhanced by a subtle hint of oak. Upon aeration, it unveils layers of clove and pepper, adding to its complexity. On the palate, this red wine is smooth and well-balanced, with flavors mirroring its meticulous maturation. Its journey across the palate is harmonious, culminating in a prolonged and fulfilling finish that lingers, imparting a sense of opulence and richness.
