Teatro Latino Puglia Primitivo
Teatro Latino was created by Italian wine industry veteran Leonardo Vianello with a mission to showcase the rich viticultural diversity of Italy's iconic regions through clean, terroir-driven wines that deliver remarkable quality for their value. Sourcing fruit from historic growing areas across Southern and Central Italy—such as Puglia, Abruzzo, and Sicily—Teatro Latino highlights indigenous grape varieties grown on traditional site selections. Each bottle in the portfolio pays homage to local heritage and regional culture, even featuring Apulia's iconic stone trulli architecture on its Southern Italian labels to reflect a deep connection to classic Italian winemaking traditions.
Aromas of dark plum, ripe blackberry, and fresh cherry open the glass, complemented by subtle undertones of violet, anise, and dark cocoa. On the palate, the wine delivers a full-bodied profile loaded with vibrant dark berry flavor, structured by balanced acidity and smooth, mouthcoating tannins. Brief oak contact lends a delicate touch of black pepper and baking spice while allowing the pure, sun-ripened Apulian fruit character to shine through. It finishes dry, long, and harmonious with a pleasant trail of savory herbs and dark fruit depth.
Primitivo, also known overseas as “Zinfandel”, is a traditional Apulian vine variety that has been used since time immemorial to produce not only red wines, but also well-structured rosé wines. Cultivation on calcareous/clayey soils, a planting density of 3500 vines/hectare and low vineyard yields ensure high quality fruit from which a slightly aromatic wine is obtained, in which the spicy notes are enhanced by ageing in large barrels. With its good structure this wine is recommended as an accompaniment to meat and cheese and at the start of an important dinner.
