This Month's Selections
Domaine Marie Bérénice 2021 Bandol Rouge (Bandol, France)
Dominated by Mourvèdre alongside a splash of Grenache, this organic Provencal red displays the hallmark depth and brooding character of traditional Bandol while maintaining a supple, approachable core. The nose opens with rustic leather, cedar box, and dried Mediterranean herbs layered over ripe blackberry and dark blueberry fruit. On the palate, long maceration and 18 months of aging in large oak foudres yield a savory, fine-grained structure filled with wild black plum, baking spice, and a hint of game. It finishes with incredible length, carrying fresh acidity and firm, food-friendly tannins that call for hearty stews, braised short ribs, or roasted lamb.
Grands Périples 2022 Saint-Émilion Grand Cru (Bordeaux, France)
Sourced from the right bank of Bordeaux, this blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc captures the plush, generous warmth of the stellar 2022 vintage. Rich aromas of dark cherry, creme de cassis, and sweet tobacco leaf meet subtle cedar and crushed gravel minerality. The palate is velvety and full-bodied, delivering layers of ripe black plum and cocoa wrapped in polished, mouth-coating tannins. Balanced by an underlying spine of freshness, it closes with a long, elegant finish that pairs seamlessly with grilled ribeye or an artisanal charcuterie board.
J. Mourat 2025 Collection Red (Loire Valley, France)
Hailing from maritime-influenced vineyards in the southern Loire Valley, this lively organic red blend of Pinot Noir, Gamay, Cabernet Franc, and Négrette is fermented entirely in stainless steel to preserve pristine fruit character. Bright ruby in the glass, it bursts with scents of fresh red cherry, wild raspberry, black pepper, and subtle forest floor. The medium-bodied palate is snappy and energetic, offering crunch fruit flavors, gentle tannins, and a mineral-driven acidity that makes it effortlessly gulpable. Vibrant and refreshing, it serves as a wonderful candidate to serve with a slight chill alongside roasted chicken or pork tenderloin.
López de Heredia 2025 Viña Bosconia Reserva (Rioja, Spain)
A masterpiece of classical Spanish winemaking, this Burgundy-shaped bottling from Haro's legendary bodega is composed primarily of Tempranillo blended with Garnacha, Graciano, and Mazuelo. Aged for five years in neutral oak barrels followed by extensive bottle aging, the 2015 vintage displays an intoxicating nose of dried cranberry, cherry compote, cured leather, orange peel, and damp earth. The palate offers a slightly riper, darker fruit profile than usual, matched by rustic, persistent tannins and a racy line of natural acidity. Silkier and more refined than traditional full-bodied reds, it finishes with incredible complexity and lingering savory depth.
