Domaine Franck Millet is one of those quietly excellent Loire estates that develops a loyal following once you discover it. The Millet family has been farming and vinifying in Bué for three generations, building a reputation for precision, terroir clarity, and an unwavering commitment to balance. Franck and Betty Millet took over the domaine in 1991, expanding it from 7 hectares to 23 while keeping the philosophy unchanged: meticulous parcel selection, careful handling of Sauvignon Blanc, and vinification designed to preserve purity rather than embellish it. Their cellar in Bué—just a few kilometers from Sancerre—serves as the hub for all vinification, where grapes and musts are rigorously sorted to ensure each cuvée reflects its origin with honesty. The result is a style defined by clean lines, mineral tension, and the kind of quiet confidence that makes Loire Sauvignon Blanc so compelling.
The 2025 Pouilly‑Fumé shows the estate’s hallmark precision with a vintage that feels especially bright and expressive. The nose opens with ripe yellow fruits—peach, apricot, mirabelle—layered over the classic flinty minerality that Pouilly‑Fumé is known for. There’s a sunny, lifted character to the aromatics, balanced by subtle citrus blossom and a clean, stony edge. On the palate, the wine is smooth on entry, then quickly reveals its structure: grapefruit, lemon, and white peach carried by a fine, mouthwatering acidity. The flint soils speak clearly in the finish, which is fresh, mineral, and persistent, leaving a crisp impression without sharpness. This is a beautifully balanced, terroir‑driven Pouilly‑Fumé—bright, pure, and quietly complex.
