The 2022 Piaggia "Il Sasso" Carmignano is a classic, harmoniously structured blend composed of 70% Sangiovese, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, and 10% Merlot. In the glass, it reveals an intense ruby hue along with an intoxicating bouquet of ripe dark cherries, crushed blackberries, sweet cocoa, wild thyme, and subtle balsamic earthiness. On the palate, the power of the French varieties integrates effortlessly with the vibrant acidity and red-fruit core of the Sangiovese. The texture is silky yet framed by fine-grained, persistent tannins, finishing long with lingering notes of dark plum, sweet spice, and graphite.
