Kobler 2021 Russian River Valley Grenache

Winemaker Notes

Dark purple, the 2021 Russian River Valley "Cuvée of the River" Grenache is designed to emulate a Châteaunuef du Pape style red wine with a blend of 79% Grenache, 13% Syrah, 5% Mourvedre and 3% Viognier. The Syrah and the Viognier components are from Kobler Family Vineyards. The Grenache opens with tones of violets, raspberries, and strawberry with notes of hickory and cigar box. Medium bodied with balanced acidity, it has medium-plus tannins with a velvety finish.

Bright fruit flavors and a hefty structure make this wine good to drink now with meaty, cheesy dishes or save it for a while to look for more complexity. Strawberry and raspberry notes are nicely backed by fruit acidity and moderate tannins for a bit of a grippy texture.
