375ML HALF BOTTLE Pocas 2011 Vintage Port
375ML HALF BOTTLE
Winemaker Notes
Port only made on very exceptional years. Aged in oak barrels to mature it is bottled, without any filtration whatsoever, between the second and third year after the harvest. Vintage ports will then mature in the bottle for many years and they will gradually achieve the outstanding style of a great wine. Full red berry fruit flavors. Full-bodied, with firm yet elegant tannins and an expressive and persistent finish.
Critical Acclaim

Very rich and deliciously smooth, but with a bite of acidity and stalky black-currant fruit to give it structure. This wine is dry, ripe and dense, showing its tannins while promising longevity.

The 2011 Late Bottled Vintage Port is a roughly equal blend of Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz and Tinta Barroca, with 10% Tinto Cão blended in. It was bottled in July 2016 with 115 grams per liter of residual sugar and a long cork. This is not the most concentrated LBV that I've seen of late, but in terms of pure flavor and caressing texture, it is awfully fine and frankly just delicious. Bursting with the classic flavors of gracefully maturing Port, while not requiring you to wait 25 years for their emergence, it has just enough power on the finish to enliven it. While it does show even more pop and power with air, it also thins a bit. The complex flavors never fade, however. Drink this beauty over the next decade or so.
